Hand-Held Calculator- Calculators in the 1960s were big and bulky so the idea of creating a calculator using a few chips of low power consumption creating a portable calculator was a revolutionary idea. In January 1971 the first pocket calculator (Sharp EL-8) was created weighing 455 grams or 1 pound but initially sold for $395. These expensive calculators later helped advance in developments in display technology so that within a few years cheap pocket calculators would be available to all. The Casio Mini Card LC-78 was the first credit card-sized calculator made in Japan. Hand held calculators were popular to the population for their size and cost.
